Come And Get It With NNAVY

This year, Montreux Jazz Festival witnessed an extraordinary performance by new Swiss soul icon Nnavy, who had the honor of opening for music legend Lionel Richie. Psychology student by day and rising star by night, Nnavy took the stage with a mission to deliver a powerful message of self-acceptance and empowerment.

In a heartfelt interview, Nnavy revealed to us the inspiration behind her music, emphasizing the importance of self-validation. "I wanted to hear, from me to me, all the things that I haven't always heard, that I am a woman, I am black, I can be beautiful, I can be loved, and I can be teased and I need to hear that," she expressed passionately. This sentiment resonates deeply in her song "Come and Get It," which serves as a personal anthem of self-empowerment and self-love.

As the day unfolded, nerves and excitement filled the air for Nnavy. Soundchecks and interviews were followed by a moment of realization when she stepped foot on the renowned Auditorium Stravinski stage, thinking about two years ago when she did her first show at Montreux Jazz Festival. The enormity of the moment hit her, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and gratitude for the opportunity to showcase her talent in such a prestigious setting, opening for Lionel Richie. "That was... WOW. The fact that, first of all, I was able to open for Lionel Richie, what? That's crazy...", she said. It was a surreal moment she would cherish forever.

Reflecting on her journey, Nnavy expressed pride in her growth and transformation. When asked what she would say to her younger self, she affirmed, "She can be proud of her. Younger me can be proud of now me and vice versa". This self-assurance and self-appreciation shine through in her music, captivating audiences with her soulful voice.

Nnavy's debut at Montreux Jazz Festival marked a milestone in her career, solidifying her place as a rising star. Her performance not only captivated the crowd but also served as a reminder of the importance of self-love and validation. Looking ahead, she expressed a desire to explore collaborations, particularly in the fashion world. With her talent, passion, and remarkable stage presence, Nnavy is destined for a bright future in the music industry.
