‘Women in Ocean Science’ Strives To Draw More Women In Scientific Careers

Founded by Madeline St Clair, Women in Ocean Science is an organization of women working in marine sciences and defending the environment, whose goal is to close the gender gap in scientific careers.

The community focuses on celebrating and empowering women, by putting the spotlight on the amazing work accomplished by female scientists. Through this, they aim to encourage young people to pursue a career in science, no matter their gender, race, status or background.

Indeed, as the organization underlines, men are over represented in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields. This leads to women being less heard, their work less known and young girls choosing other careers, as they do not feel represented. Women in Ocean Science wants to change that.

In order to do so, they provide a lot of opportunities: internships, educational resources and a mentorship program. If you are interested in their work, have a look at their website!
